Reflexology and Hormones: A Gentle Approach to Cycle Support

Hormones govern more of your daily experience than most people realise. Energy, mood, sleep, appetite, concentration — all of it shifts with your cycle, and when that rhythm is disrupted, the effects can be felt everywhere.

Your endocrine system, in plain English

The endocrine system is your body’s chemical messaging network. It includes the thyroid, adrenal glands, ovaries, and pituitary gland, among others. These glands produce hormones that regulate everything from your metabolism to your menstrual cycle, and they are constantly responding to signals from the brain and the rest of the body.

When the system is balanced, you barely notice it. When it is not — during perimenopause, after coming off hormonal contraception, during periods of sustained stress, or while navigating fertility challenges — the effects can be significant.

How hormone reflexology works

Hormone reflexology uses targeted techniques on the reflex points that correspond to the endocrine glands. The aim is to encourage the body’s own hormonal regulation, not to override it. Sessions are adapted to where you are in your cycle and tailored to your specific symptoms and circumstances.

This is not a one-size approach. A session for someone experiencing perimenopausal hot flushes looks quite different from one supporting a client with PCOS or someone preparing for IVF.

Who it might be suitable for

Many clients come for hormone reflexology when they are navigating one of the following:

  • Perimenopause or menopause symptoms
  • Irregular or painful cycles
  • PCOS or endometriosis
  • Coming off hormonal contraception
  • Fertility support, including alongside IVF

It is important to say clearly: reflexology does not treat these conditions. What many clients report is that regular sessions may support their overall sense of balance, help manage stress around these experiences, and provide a dedicated space to focus on their wellbeing during a challenging time.

What to expect from a session

A Hormone & Fertility Reflexology session lasts 75 minutes. The first appointment includes a detailed consultation to understand your health history, your cycle, and what you are hoping to achieve. From there, sessions are structured around your individual needs and adapted as things change.

Some clients come weekly during a specific phase of their cycle. Others come fortnightly as ongoing support. There is no set protocol — we work together to find what feels right for you.

A note on fertility reflexology

Fertility reflexology is a term used to describe sessions specifically structured to support those on a fertility path. This might include working alongside medical treatment, supporting natural conception, or simply providing a calming, grounding space during what can be an anxious time.

No responsible therapist will promise outcomes. What I can offer is qualified, attentive support and a treatment that many clients find genuinely helpful during this period.

If hormonal balance is something you are thinking about, a conversation is a good place to start. You can book a Hormone & Fertility session or get in touch to ask any questions first.
